Tobias Read Calls For Four Democratic Primary Debates
Beaverton, OR – Today, Democratic candidate for Governor and Oregon Treasurer Tobias Read called for four debates in advance of the primary election on May 17, 2022.
“The last two years have been incredibly challenging for Oregonians. They are rightfully frustrated and concerned about the future of our state.
We’ve spent hundreds of millions to address homelessness and it’s gotten worse. Homicides and shootings are at an all-time high. There is no plan to keep schools open safely, and our kids keep falling even further behind. And Intel, the state’s biggest employer, recently announced it’s spending $20 billion and creating thousands of jobs in Ohio instead of Oregon.
These challenges demand not only a new approach, but leadership that is accountable.
Today, I am calling for four debates to be hosted by local news organizations and civic groups across the state. Oregonians deserve to hear the two Democratic candidates for governor discuss their track records and vision for our state, while taking questions from members of the media and the public.
