State of Oregon Unveils New Government Transparency Website
House Bill 2500 was approved during the 2009 legislative session. The measure required the Department of Administrative Services to create the Oregon Transparency Web site containing information about state agency revenues, expenditures, contracting, human resources and other data. That website is now online.
A recent poll revealed that even though most people interact with government services from the moment they wake up and turn on their faucet, a majority of Americans cannot name a single service that the government provides. This new website is a great resource to learn about how tax dollars are spent, how government works, and how budgetary decisions are made.
